Why book us in West Germany

A crew from just over the border.

From The Hague, Cologne is about two and a half hours by road. Our crews drive into North Rhine-Westphalia the same day with the full kit in the van, so a booking made in the morning can be filming in the afternoon, availability permitting.

ProSieben · WDR

German broadcasters already book us.

We ran ProSieben's live feed from the European Council in Brussels, on air to Munich from 5AM. The same crew, the same LiveU and the same producer drive east as easily as they drive south.

Same day from The Hague

Cologne is about two and a half hours by road. Düsseldorf and the Ruhr are a little closer, and the border region around Krefeld and Mönchengladbach closer still.

Recorded or live

Interviews and B-roll recorded to card, or a live cross through a LiveU LU600 that bonds 4G and 5G into one signal for your newsroom.

English, Dutch, German on request

Our crews work in English and Dutch. A German-speaking crew member is available on request for interviews in German.

One quote, one invoice

The drive is itemised on the quote. For VAT-registered German businesses the invoice applies the EU reverse charge, so no Dutch VAT is added.

Where we film

North Rhine-Westphalia, first.

Most of our German work is in North Rhine-Westphalia, the state right behind the Dutch border. Cologne is the media city: WDR and RTL are based there, and its trade fair grounds host gamescom every August. Düsseldorf is the state capital, with the NRW parliament and the big trade fairs at Messe Düsseldorf. Bonn still houses federal ministries and the UN Campus, where the UN climate secretariat holds its negotiating sessions every June.

The Ruhr, with Dortmund, Essen, Duisburg and Bochum, is reachable the same day for news, business and sport. Closest of all is the border region around Aachen, Mönchengladbach and Krefeld, where many stories cross between the Netherlands and Germany anyway.

Filming on the street with a tripod or lights usually needs a permit from the city's public order office, and events and trade fairs run their own press accreditation. Tell us the location and we will tell you what the shoot needs. Further into Germany, such as Frankfurt, Hamburg or Berlin, we can come with more lead time.

Pricing

What a camera crew costs in West Germany.

An operator with full broadcast kit starts at €500 a day. A LiveU LU600 for live work adds €350 a day, so a live position with operator starts at €850. The drive from The Hague is its own line on the quote, so nothing appears on the invoice that was not on the quote.

From €500 a day

Operator with full kit

Broadcast camera and lenses, professional audio, basic lighting, tripod and standard footage delivery. Add a sound recordist for a two-person crew.

€350 a day

Live cross with LiveU

The LiveU LU600 bonds 4G and 5G into one live signal. Encoding, international data and monitoring are in the day rate. In Germany it always goes out with our operator.

Itemised

What moves the price

The hours on location, the drive from The Hague, and how many cameras and live positions the day needs. One itemised quote, the same day you send the brief.

Who books a crew in West Germany

News desks, broadcasters, producers.

Our German bookings come from broadcasters and agencies that need an extra crew in the west of the country, foreign news desks covering a story in North Rhine-Westphalia, and Dutch and Belgian broadcasters filming across the border. Production companies and press offices book us for interviews, conferences and trade fair days.

Booking in German? See LiveU mieten mit Kamerateam. For live transmission on its own terms, see LiveU rental with a crew, and for news crews specifically, our ENG crew. Filming in Belgium too? See our camera crew in Brussels, and for other countries, camera crew hire across Europe. The summit morning for ProSieben is in the ProSieben case study.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How much does it cost to hire a camera crew in Germany?

An operator with full broadcast kit starts at €500 a day, and a LiveU LU600 for live transmission adds €350 a day. The drive from The Hague is a separate line on the quote, so the figure you approve is the figure you pay.

How fast can a crew reach Cologne or Düsseldorf?

The same day. Cologne is about two and a half hours by road from our base in The Hague, and Düsseldorf and the Ruhr are a little closer. A producer answers +31 6 40830071 around the clock to confirm availability.

Which parts of Germany do you cover?

North Rhine-Westphalia the same day: Cologne, Düsseldorf, Bonn, the Ruhr with Dortmund, Essen and Duisburg, and the border region around Aachen, Mönchengladbach and Krefeld. Further into Germany, such as Frankfurt, Hamburg or Berlin, we need more lead time.

Does your crew speak German?

Our crews work in English and Dutch. A German-speaking crew member is available on request, so mention the interview language when you book.

How many live positions can you run on a big news day?

Two at short notice. Up to four when booked ahead, because the extra LiveU units need lead time. If you know the date, book early.

Do I need a permit to film on the street in Germany?

For a set-up with a tripod, lights or a crew taking up space on the pavement, German cities usually want a permit from the local public order office. Send us the location and we will tell you what the shoot needs.

Can you invoice a German company without Dutch VAT?

Yes. For VAT-registered businesses elsewhere in the EU, our invoice applies the EU reverse charge, so no Dutch VAT is added. Send your VAT number with the booking.

Ready when you are
